Black in Zion... "Best Hamburgers in Town"'

Founded by Israeli Chef Tzachi Buchester, the Jerusalem branch is run by Dror Gabbay who had wanted to make his restaurant kosher for a long time.

BLACK Bar N Burger Restaurant takes up a significant portion of Shlomtzion Hamalka St. and describes its hamburgers as “the best in town, any town”. The restaurant belongs to a chain owned by Chef Zachi Buchester. Its red & black interior design features a bar illuminated with trendy neon lights that stays open until late each night. The hamburgers have funny names like Twiggy (160 gr.), Schwarzenegger (160 gr.), Yokozuna (330 gr), Norma Jean (made of ground entrecote), Bridgette Bardot (vegetarian) and Popeye (take a guess). The entire enterprise has a pulp-fiction-style diner appeal, but doesn’t serve standard diner-style hamburgers.

The available toppings include the standard Israel one (fried egg), the standard international one (fried mushrooms), the completely non-standard topping (a combination of pineapple, parsley, scallions and hot peppers), and lots more. Non-hamburger options on the menu include a large selection of spicy wings, steaks and corned beef. The bottom line is that at BLACK, you can dig into mountains of meat and classic comfort food with an international twist till late at night. You can even wash down the meal with alcohol, at the restaurant’s well-stocked bar. If you’re checking out the bars on Shlomtzion Hamalka St, BLACK is the place for you.
